The Philadelphia Ostomy Association is dedicated to providing support, education, advocacy, and hope to individuals facing ostomy surgery, adjusting to life with an ostomy, or experiencing ongoing ostomy-related concerns. We also welcome individuals living with continent diversions, including J-pouches, K-pouches, and continent urostomies.
We believe that no one should have to navigate this journey alone. Our community welcomes ostomates, their spouses, adult children, caregivers, close friends, and anyone seeking information, encouragement, or a better understanding of life with an ostomy.
As an affiliate of the United Ostomy Associations of America (UOAA), we proudly serve Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties through regularly scheduled support meetings in Center City Philadelphia, virtual meetings via Zoom, peer support, educational programs, and community outreach. We also connect with our community through our Facebook page, providing additional opportunities for education, encouragement, and support.
Whether you are preparing for surgery, newly adjusting to life with an ostomy, or have been living with one for many years, you will find a welcoming community ready to walk beside you every step of the way.

Whether you are preparing for surgery, newly living with an ostomy, or have been on this journey for many years, the Philadelphia Ostomy Association is here to help. Our members understand the challenges, the questions, and the emotions that often accompany an ostomy because many of us have walked that same path. Together, we offer support, education, friendship, and hope—so that no one has to face this journey alone.
Our meetings begin with introductions, where members share their name, ostomy type, and the community they live in. This not only helps everyone get acquainted but also makes it easier for members to connect with others who live nearby. Each meeting also features an informative speaker or educational activity, followed by a question-and-answer session and helpful handouts. New ostomates are encouraged to ask questions in a supportive, judgment-free environment where everyone can learn from one another's experiences.
Beyond our regular meetings, we host a variety of special events throughout the year, including luncheon gatherings, picnics, educational trainings, holiday celebrations, ostomy supply sample giveaways, and regional events. We are also committed to advocacy and community outreach by participating in health fairs, partnering with organizations such as the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, presenting at Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (WOCN) education programs, and supporting other community initiatives.

The Philadelphia Ostomy Association meets at Pennsylvania Hospital, 8th and Spruce Streets in Philadelphia (See Map) and has Hybrid meetings (in person and on Zoom) from January to December. For a full schedule, visit the Meeting Schedules page.
